Privacy Notice

Creative Psychotherapy is committed to protecting your personal information and to being transparent about the information held about you. Any personal information you share with Creative Psychotherapy is held and processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Creative Psychotherapy is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), reference: ZA338019 

 

When and why personal information is collected

  • Initial inquiry - if you get in touch via the website, by email or telephone, you will be asked to provide your name and contact details. This information is required in order to process your inquiry. If, following my response to the initial inquiry, there is no further contact for 7 days all information is deleted/disposed of.

  • Initial Consultation - hand written notes are anonymised and kept separate from your contact details at this point. If you do not confirm, within 14 days of the initial consultation, that you would like to engage in therapy then all the information you have provided is shredded, deleted and disposed of.

 

  • Contracted sessions - once we agree to work together, Creative Psychotherapy will collect further personal details in order to provide you with a counselling/psychotherapy service. Brief, anonymised, session notes are kept separate from both your personal contact details and our signed, dated, contract. This data is a requirement of our contract. Session notes are held securely for 7 years after therapy has ended (or after the age of 18) Your contact details and any emails from you, or to you, are shredded, deleted and disposed of at the end of therapy. 

 

Disclosure of personal information

Your personal details will not be shared with any other person, service or organisation without your knowledge and permission, unless there is a legal requirement to do so, a safeguarding issue or perceived risk of harm, as stated in our 

Please note: due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, if I become symptomatic, the 'test and trace' system may require that I disclose the names of individuals I have been in contact with 'in the public interest'. In this exceptional circumstance I will not offer information regarding the context of our meeting/contact.

Security

Paper-based information about you is securely stored. Where anonymised notes are kept electronically; these are stored on a password protected USB stick that is, itself, securely stored. Creative Psychotherapy takes all reasonable precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of any information you provide. 

 

At the present time, for ease of use and compatibility, emails are not sent in an encrypted form. E-mail, unless encrypted, is not a fully secure means of communication. Whilst we endeavour to keep our systems and communications protected against viruses and other harmful effects, we cannot bear responsibility for all communications being virus-free.
