Welcome. My name is Katina Costa Demetriou, known as Katia. I am a qualified, professionally registered, Art Therapist, Counsellor and Psychotherapist working in the heart of Eastbourne.

My practice, Creative Psychotherapy, supports you to make sense of thoughts, feelings, behaviours and experiences, past and present, that may be troubling you or causing you distress. What you share will be accepted, without blame or judgement.

In addition to 'talking therapy', I offer opportunities to engage with the arts, mindfulness, and breath and body work. Creative Psychotherapy is available on a short term, long term or open ended basis for adolescents and adults across the life span.

About Katia

As a therapist, I have experience of working in the charity sector and schools, as well as a specialist NHS service for adult survivors of child sexual abuse. Areas of special interest include trauma, neglect/abuse, anxiety, shame, identity, belonging and life transitions. I also create and facilitate workshops for colleagues interested in integrating arts processes in their practice. In addition to my private practice, I currently work for a youth counselling charity.

With a background in education, I have over 20 years' experience as teacher, tutor, theatre workshop facilitator and learning mentor; engaging with children and young people aged 4 to 19. Over time, my passion for the arts and pastoral care, together with my interest in child development and the impact of childhood experience on adult lives, led me to training as an arts psychotherapist.
